2.3. Exploring Possible Confounders

Once a Clinical Outcome is selected, an additional selector appears on the left side, allowing the user to explore confounding variables.

These confounders represent differences in study populations or methodology that may explain variability in results, such as:

  • Age

  • Baseline visual acuity

  • Refractive characteristics

  • Other sample-related parameters

Selecting a confounder updates the view to show them simultaneously with the clinical outcome.

By tapping on a confounder, the user can open a detailed explanation describing:

  • Why this variable matters

  • How it may influence results

  • How to interpret differences between studies

How to access this view

This view is accessed by tapping the Search icon (magnifying glass) in the bottom navigation bar of the app.

What can be seen

Pressing over the top right menu described by three dots you can select clinical outcomes to be seen through the list changing the sorting controls depending on the selected outcome.

Once a clinical outcome has been selected, a new menu will appear at the left side of the previous pressed menu, allowing to select details such as the sample size, age, and other possible confounders.
