2.2. Selecting Clinical Outcomes
In the Confirmatory reports list, the three-dot menu on the right side of the screen allows the user to select which standardized clinical endpoint is displayed and used to organize the list of studies.
Each option in this menu corresponds to a specific, predefined outcome measure reported in a comparable way across studies. When an endpoint is selected, the article list updates immediately to reflect that outcome, and the sorting controls adapt automatically so studies can be ranked according to the selected metric.
Available endpoints include, among others:
Reference: Study data and score
IOL efficacy: Monocular corrected distance visual acuity (CDVA)
IOL percentages: Percentage of eyes achieving predefined CDVA
Procedure efficacy: Binocular uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA)
Procedure percentages: percentage of patients achieving predefined UDVA
Defocus curve: Monocular or Binocular defocus performance
Contrast sensitivity: Monocular or Binocular Contrast Sensitivity Function for standardized frequencies
Spectacle independence: Percentage of patients achieving total spectacle independence
Photic phenomena: Incidence patients perceiving photic phenomena (frequent or very frequent)
Positive dysphotopsia: Percentage of patients reporting positive dysphotopsia (bothered or very bothered)
By dynamically linking endpoint selection and sorting, the Confirmatory view ensures that studies are ranked according to the exact clinical outcome of interest, maintaining methodological consistency and enabling accurate, meaningful comparisons across the evidence base.
